News of the appointment came as Flowers said its chief marketing officer Allen Shiver would become the group’s president.
Singer, a former CFO of Coke bottler Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, will join the Flowers board in January.
“His broad business experience with companies that have similar market-delivery systems to ours will enhance the composition of our board,” said George Deese, Flowers chairman, CEO – and current president – today (20 November).
Shiver will replace Deese as president in January. Flowers said Shiver will play more of a role in growing the business strategically.
