US retailer Wal-Mart has confirmed that the president and CEO of its Latin America operations is leaving the company – just five months after taking up the position.

Vicente Trius has announced his intention to leave his role. A successor is expected to be named “as soon as possible”, a spokesperson told just-food today (20 November).

“We want to thank him for his contribution and wish him well,” a spokesperson said. “In the meantime, Doug McMillon, president and CEO of Walmart International will assume direct responsibility for the region. We have a great management team in place in Latin America and know that the business with continue to run smoothly.”

No reason has been given for Trius’s departure.

Trius took up the position on 6 July this year, moving from his position as CEO of Wal-Mart Asia.
