The US company told just-food today (25 July) that it would once again produce pasta in the South American country although a spokesperson refused to go into details for “competitive reasons”.
However, reports in Brazil said the company would resume production in the state of Minas Gerais.
According to the Brazilian newspaper Gazeta Mercantil, General Mills closed its previous manufacturing facility in the country three years ago.
Marketing manager Marcos Scaldelai told the newspaper that raw material costs had become too high and despite a series of price hikes, sales volumes and production fell.
