The contract covers over 10,000 Kroger associates at over 100 stores in Detroit. The agreement outlines wage increases and improved health care benefits for workers.

“This agreement is an excellent example of positive results that can be achieved at the bargaining table when both parties stay focused and work cooperatively,” said Bruce Macaulay, president of Kroger’s Great Lakes division, which includes Kroger stores in Michigan.

The deal in Detroit comes as Kroger faces more talks with workers in the southern US city of Dallas.

According to the Dallas Morning News today (11 June), Kroger workers have postponed a planned strike and intend to restart talks with company executives later this week.
