The franchisees are seeking damages of JPY230m (US$2.6m) owing to losses they claim were incurred because of the ban.

In June, the Japanese government ordered Seven-Eleven to stop the practice of “unfairly” banning its franchise stores from selling food products at discount prices.

The suit filed at the Tokyo High Court by seven store managers said damages range from JPY14m-JPY53m, depending on how long each store had been operation.
