US retailer Safeway has appointed former Frito-Lay executive Joe Ennen to the position of senior vice president of consumer brands.

In this role, Ennen will oversee the group’s corporate brands organisation, including marketing, finance and outside sales.
Previously, Ennen was VP of core brands at PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay business, where he managed the group’s Doritos, Tostitos and Cheetos lines. Most recently, he was VP of innovation at Frito-Lay. He has also held management positions with Kellogg and Con Agra Foods.
“Joe’s extensive CPG experience and track record as a marketer and innovator make him uniquely suited to lead Safeway’s consumer brands business,” said Mike Minasi, Safeway’s president of marketing.
