Norwegian company Leroy Seafood has agreed to buy leading Swedish fish wholesale operators Allt i Fisk in Gothenburg and Fiskgrossisterna i Stockholm for an undisclosed sum.

Last year, Allt i Fisk had a turnover of SKr181m, while Fiskgrossisterna reached SKr207m. Unless a problem develops in the due-diligence process under way, the deal is expected to be completed by 1 October.

The buyout also includes Poseidon, 91% of which is controlled by the Fiskgrossisterna group. Poseidon markets and sells consumer-packaged fresh fish.

The deal is an indicator of the recent push within the Norwegian fish industry to strengthen its global position. Separate reports have revealed that the industry has agreed to invest SKr1.3bn in strengthening its marketing efforts worldwide over the next three years.
