Canada-based dairy giant Saputo has cut 40 jobs from a cheese plant in Wales.

Saputo blamed “depressed cheese prices worldwide” for a fall in the amount of milk being supplied to the site – and therefore causing the decision to axe jobs.
“For the long-term viability of its operations, Saputo needs to pay a competitive price for milk in line with its type of production,” the company said.
“As a result, some producers ceased their supply to us and we needed to downsize our operations to the new milk intake.”
