Work started on the BioScience Development Center in 2007 and, now completed, the 2,000 square metre-building houses up to 30 scientists and technicians. Investment costs have not been disclosed.

“The Dangé Saint Romain site is to become a real competence centre in microbiology and biotechnology operating for the whole of Danisco worldwide”, said Doug Willrett, executive vice president of Danisco Cultures Division.

The new facility will have a special focus on activities related to process development, enhanced stability and preservation of microorganisms with the aim of discovering new benefits for human health, food protection, creating new textures and tastes and promoting a natural and good quality food, the company said.
