Lifeway Foods, Inc., the Illinois-based producer of the probiotic dairy beverage kefir, has reported a 52% increase in consolidated sales to US$7.9m for the fourth quarter of 2006.
The company said the revenue increase was driven primarily by a 27% increase in sales of Lifeway’s kefir line, with sales increases in the Helios kefir line and Pride of Main Street’s milk also contributing to the growth.
Total consolidated sales for the full 2006 fiscal year rose by 38% to $27.72m.
“The fourth quarter of 2006 was another outstanding quarter for Lifeway Foods,” said CEO Julie Smolyansky. “Sales continue to grow at a record pace, and we continue to execute on all of our strategies for growth.”
Smolyansky added that the success of its ProBugs line had prompted the company to add an additional flavour, Goo-Berry Pie, to the range. The new variant will be available in the coming months, Smolyansky said.
