Fastfood behemoth McDonald’s has revealed plans to take the unprecedented step of using franchises to establish at least 100 restaurants every year in China between 2003-13.

Since entering the Chinese market in 1990, McDonald’s has only opened 300 outlets, and the president of McDonald’s China Development Corp, Peter Tan, explained that the enormous growth rate was essential to meet the demand for fastfood perceived in China.


Tan told the Beijing Youth Daily that the company will be able to sell franchises as it expects China to introduce its first regulatory franchise laws soon.
