The board of the UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) is to convene a working group to assess the independent evaluation of front-of-pack (FOP) nutrition labelling it published last week.

Although the research was on the agenda to be discussed at yesterday’s (12 May) open board meeting, the FSA said there had not been sufficient time for board members to look at the findings to discuss them at this stage.

It was therefore decided that a working group would look at the findings and report back to the board in due course. An FSA spokesperson told just-food today that the working group would be expected to meet within the next couple of weeks.

Present at those discussions are expected to be representatives of the Project Management Panel (PMP), the group of experts which undertook the study, and BMRB, the company which carried out the consumer opinion research.
