Finland-based dairy group Valio is to start negotiations with employees to cut around 90 jobs at two of its offices.

Around 40-50 jobs will be cut at the company’s Tempere dairy and around 40 jobs at Valio’s head office in Helsinki, the company said today (30 April).

A spokesperson for Valio told just-food: “It is because of a stagnation of sales in Finland and of course the worldwide situation. Some job descriptions need to be newly defined as some of them overlap and are done twice.

“In Tampura, production will be almost halved and transferred to our other dairies depending on if negotiations go as planned and in Helsinki, almost every function is covered.”

At the head office, the aim is to reduce clerical staff in sales and marketing.
