Food contaminated with Salmonella will not look or smell spoiled. Salmonellosis is a potentially life-threatening illness caused by Salmonella bacteria. Young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Common symptoms of Salmonella infection are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea although more serious consequences are possible, however there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
