An official at Kraft pointed out that GM maize and soybeans are already an ingredient of many food products and this has not proved a problem for the public.


Reuters quoted Ron Triani, senior director of scientific relations for Kraft North America, as telling a biotech policy forum: “My personal guess is that [biotech wheat] probably won’t have a significant impact on consumers based on how they react to corn and soybeans.”


Monsanto has said it anticipates gaining US approval to sell the world’s first GM wheat variety within the next few years.
