Australian pie maker Patties Foods has announced the resignation of its chairman of the board, Peter Kempen, and chief financial officer and secretary, Beth Schofield.

Kempen’s resignation was effective immediately, while Schofield will leave the company in February 2009.

Kempen has been a director with the company since 2002 and became chairman of the board in 2005. He played an instrumental role in Patties’ transition to a publicly-listed group in November 2006.

In a letter to shareholders, deputy chairman Ernest Barr said that the selection and appointment of a new chairman would take place as soon as possible. In the interim, Barr will serve as acting chairman.

Schofield joined Patties in 2007 and Philip Thomas will fill her position as company secretary effective immediately.
