Maple Leaf Foods is voluntarily recalling its roast and corned beef due to possible contamination with listeria monocytogenes.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a warning, in conjunction with Maple Foods, not to serve or consume the company’s Sure Slice brand Roast Beef and Corned Beef in 1 kg packages.

The affected Road Beef has product code 21333 and a best before date of August 09, and the Corned Beef has product code 21444 and a best before date of August 23.

The products have been distributed nationally, primarily to foodservice institutions such as restaurants, hospitals and nursing homes.

Maple Leaf said there has been no confirmed illnesses associated with the consumption of these products and the CFIA is continuing to monitor the effectiveness of the recall.
