Portuguese retailer Auchan Portugal, a unit of French retailer Auchan, is to open its fifteenth hypermarket in Portugal next week.

The company said the new store, which is estimated to be worth €30m (US$33.6m), is to be operated under the Jumbo banner and will be situated in Gondomar, northern Portugal, reported the Portuguese News Digest.

The company said the new hypermarket would directly employ 450 people.

Auchan Portugal, which also operates stores under the Pao de Acucar banner, registered gross sales of €970.5m in 2002, a rise of 6.1% year-on-year.
