The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company has announced a voluntary recall of its tuna salad for fear of possible contamination.

The tuna salad 12-ounce pre-packaged containers and tuna salad sold at the service deli has the potential to be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, the company said today (11 August).


Stop & Shop said it has removed all relevant containers and has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of the product to date.


Products affected by the recall have a sell by date of 19 August 2008 for the pre-packaged tuna salad and 28 July to 19 August 2008 for the service deli tuna salad.


Customers who have purchased the affected products are being urged to discard any unused portions or take their purchase receipt to Stop & Shop for a full refund.
