French food group Norac has acquired fresh and frozen sandwich maker Speedwich, based in Brébières, in the north of the country.

Speedwich, which generates turnover of EUR7.5m (US$9.5m), employs 80 staff and has a production capacity of 60,000 sandwiches per day.

Norac already has three sandwich makers in its business portfolio led by Daunat. Le Groupe Parisien and Kiosque à Sandwichs were acquired in 2009.

Employing around 3,000 staff in total, Norac reported an annual turnover of EUR516m in 2008, the latest available figures.

Apart from sandwich-making, its activities also include prepared salad dishes, sweet and savoury crepes, Vienna pastries, Asian cuisine ready-made meals and biscuits.
