UK baker Warburtons has started to seek the cause of a fire at its Bolton bakery that broke out yesterday (29 July).

The company said all employees were safely evacuated and the fire was contained and extinguished.

All bread has been delivered to customers from the site uninterrupted and as normal, it added.

It is now working to establish the cause of the fire.

The Bolton plant employs 234 workers and is set to begin a GBP25m (US$39m) upgrade in September 2011.
