French cold meats firm Aoste, part of Spanish processed meats business Campofrio, is on the point of acquiring chorizo specialist Salaisons Moroni, an EUR18m business based in south-west France.
In a statement, Aoste said the purchase would “expand its product range” and described Salaisons Moroni as “French market leader in a strong growth market”.
A spokesman for Aoste told just-food today (26 July) that a deal was scheduled for conclusion by the end of the week.
“The deal makes sense for Aoste in that it extends its product portfolio to chorizo. For Moroni, its chairman and CEO, Louis-Pierre Perrazi, who is retiring, has expressed his wish to assure the future of the family firm by linking up with a big group,” the spokesman said.
“There is no overlap in the two parties’ activities and, in principle, Aoste will maintain Moroni in its current state – the production plant and existing workforce – and retain the César Moroni brand,” the spokesman said.
