Bharti Wal-Mart has revealed that it plans to open 10-15 Best Price Modern Whoesale stores in India over the next three years.

A spokesperson for the business-to-business cash-and-carry chain told just-food that it plans to hire approximately 1,100 people by the end of the year and 6,000-7,000 over the next three years.

The spokesperson declined to say which parts of the country the expansion would be focused on.

However, these plans were in contrast to reports published by Reuters yesterday that claimed the partnership aims to open 140 retail stores by year-end.

The move would be dependent on foreign direct investment (FDI) rules being relaxed, as international retailers are currently banned from running multi-format operations in the country.
