Wal-Mart has announced the appointment of the new US leadership team following the appointment of Bill Simon as president and CEO of the division earlier this week.

Chief Merchandising officer John Fleming will leave after 10 years with the company. Simon said: “John has spent at Wal-Mart he has built a strong team and been the architect of ground-breaking efforts to grow our e-commerce business, creative marketing programs to communicate with customers and inventive merchandising initiatives.”

Simon has appointed Jack Sinclair, EVP and general manager, grocery, to lead Food as well as the Health & Wellness merchandising teams. John Westling, EVP, planning, pricing and replenishment to lead the general merchandising and replenishment teams. Both Sinclair and Westling will report directly to Simon until a replacement is named for Fleming.

The leaders of the three US geographic units will remain the same, with Raul Vazquez leading the west, Rosalind Brewer leading the South and Hank Mullany in the North, all of them will report into Simon.

Gisel Ruiz has been appointed as Executive Vice President of Wal-Mart people, most recently she wasy SVP of People. She will now be responsible for the HR function across the company’s field and home office organisations, including talent management and compensation, reporting into Simon.

Stephen Quinn, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer; Johnnie Dobbs, Executive Vice President, Logistics; Eric Zorn, President, Walmart Realty; and Tom Mars, Chief Administrative Officer will report directly to Simon.
