The Japanese government has issued a warning to Japanese companies, telling them not to import frozen spinach from China after excess levels of pesticides were found in some imports last week.

The ministry of health issued a similar warning in July last year but withdrew in February after China agreed to conduct thorough inspections of its exports. China also agreed to stop using a type of pesticide called chlorpyrifos, reported Jiji Press.
The ministry urged China to investigate the matter further and to ensure pesticide levels were reduced.
