Associated British Foods has created a business unit for its world foods business, which includes the Patak’s and Blue Dragon brands.

The UK group’s G Costa operations will be brought under the new arm, called AB World Foods.

Andy Mayhew, G Costa’s managing director, will take the CEO job at the division. G Costa commercial director Peter Baxendell will become marketing and business development director.

ABF bought Patak’s, the Indian cuisine business, last summer as it looked to expand its ethnic foods business.

The company also owns the retail pan-oriental brand Blue Dragon. Its Westmill Foods unit, meanwhile, is the largest supplier to the ethnic wholesale trade in the UK.
