The organisation’s Commission for Animal Diseases agreed in May that it would lift the region’s designation as an area afflicted with FMD, if Buenos Aires could prove no new cases or virus infection occurred between 21 May and 7 July.

The Argentine government followed through and the commission said it found the proof to be satisfactory and so has declared the zone FMD free.
