The National Restaurant Association, representing over 800,000 establishments, has openly welcomed the new Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Security Guidelines.

Commenting on both the spirit and intent of the guidelines, it said many of the restaurant-applicable recommendations have been widely used in the restaurant industry for decades. 


In a recent press release, the NRA agreed the FDA had a very difficult task in developing a single set of recommendations for very diverse food industry segments.


To that end, they claim, the restaurant industry has been proactively involved in sharing information and expertise with other food industry partners and government officials, and maintaining active lines of communication with all federal and state regulatory agencies involved with food safety, including the FDA, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
