EU agriculture commissioner Dacian Ciolos has unveiled a timetable for reforming the Common Agriculture Policy.
Speaking in Warsaw yesterday (11 May), Ciolos said formal legislative proposals would be presented to EU ministers between June and December next year.
This gives Ciolos and his officials a fairly tight timetable, given he must stage consultation with the food sector by a major planned CAP conference this July.
The Commission will then release a formal policy paper by December.
Ministers and MEPs would have longer to respond to the proposals – reforms must be introduced by November 2013.
