Chinese dairy processor Yili Group swung back into the black in 2009 after turning around its business in the wake of the 2008 melamine contamination scandal.

Yili, which sells milk, powdered milk and ice cream and its namesake brand, booked a net profit of CNY647.7m (US$94.9m) for 2009.

In 2008, after Yili was among a clutch of dairy processors embroiled in the melamine affair, the company reported a net loss of CNY1.69bn.

Yili’s sales climbed 12.3% to CNY24.32bn.
