Nestlé is planning to invest over US$60m to expand its frozen foods manufacturing facility in the US state of Arkansas.
The expansion of the “state-of-the-art” manufacturing facility, is expected to create 200 jobs and will include a new production line and bakery to allow for pizza production under the Stouffer and Lean Cuisine brands.
The plant, which opened in 2003, will expand by 50,000sq ft and will be operated by Nation Pizza Products of Schaumberg, Illinois, who will be connected to the existing Nestlé facility.
“The announcement of our decision to expand the facility in Arkansas reflects our commitment to investing in manufacturing capacity to help us meet demand for our successful brands, said Dale Morsefield, vice president of supply chain and operations of Nestlé Prepared Foods.
“We’ve seen very good success with our casual products such as Lean Cuisine brick oven style pizzas and our Stouffers corner bistro flatbreads, which we will begin to make in Jonesboro once this project is completed.”
