The site has been one of three sites packing the Les Crudettes salad brand, which has a 20% market share in retail products.


Last year, Pomona opened a salad plant at Noblejas, near Madrid, Spain and there are suggestions that following the transfer of some production to the Spanish site, Perpignan faces the loss of 70 jobs. Pomona originally acquired the site from Spanish group Pascual in 2003.


To ensure continuity in its 18,000 tonnes annual output, the Les Crudettes brand is packed at multiple sites. In addition to branded products, Pomona packs own-label retail products as well as ready to use foodservice salad packs.


Retail customers, including hard discounters, account for 60% of sales worth EUR90m (US$132.7m) a year.
