Metro Group has promoted long-standing employee Frans Muller to head its cash-and-carry business.

The German retail giant has also decided to add the position of Metro Cash & Carry CEO to its management board amid a wider reshuffling of duties.


Muller will succeed Thomas Hubner who has left the company for health reasons. “Frans is a highly skilled, international cash-and-carry expert,” Metro Group CEO Dr Eckhard Cordes said.


Meanwhile, Thomas Unger will take on responsibility for Metro Group’s property portfolio, and Zygmunt Mierdorf will now be in charge of procurement and logistics.
