India’s Reliance Retail has opened its tenth different shopping format, the Reliance Super mini-mart.
The first store, which was opened in the state of Haryana, will carry around 10,000 lines. Reliance first indicated plans to open the mini-mart outlets in December
Raghu Pillai, president and CEO for operations and strategy at Reliance Retail, said: “The launch of Reliance Super is yet another step by Reliance Retail towards providing an international shopping experience to all our customers.”
The company, which has faced a political backlash in parts of India over its expansion plans, operates 472 stores in 19 cities in the country.
Reliance has seen its Reliance Fresh stores closed in Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state, on the order of local authorities after protests from small shopkeepers.
