FrieslandCampina has refused to be drawn on reports linking the Dutch dairy giant to a possible bid for Ebro Puleva’s dairy business in Spain.
Reports in Spain have claimed that FrieslandCampina is interested in Ebro’s dairy operations, which have attracted the attention from several parties.
Ebro is mulling approaches from a number of suitors and French dairy group Lactalis has held discussions with the Spanish company.
However, a spokesman for FrieslandCampina said the company had a “policy” of not commenting on “rumours”.
FrieslandCampina sells Dutch cheeses and fresh dairy products in Spain but the spokesman said the country was “not a big market” for the company.
Ebro was equally reticent about its latest thoughts on its dairy business.
