Carrefour has remained silent on reports that it has failed to find a single buyer for its Russian hypermarket chain.

According to a Reuters report, the French retail giant will instead sell its hypermarkets and lease agreements on an individual basis.

Fellow French retailer Auchan and and German home improvement chain OBI have been linked to the sale.

However, Carrefour declined to comment on the speculation.

“The market will be updated as appropriate,” a spokesperson for the group told just-food.

Carrefour announced its plans to exit Russia last November, just four months after it established its first hypermarket in the country.
