German sugar refiner Südzucker has announced increased sales and profits for the first nine months of the year.
Operating profit jumped by 41% to EUR586m (US$766m). The company said the earnings improvement was mainly driven by the sugar segment. Revenues rose from EUR4.6bn to EUR5.2bn.

For the year, Südzucker forecasts an increase in group revenues to around EUR6.8bn, compared to EUR6.2bn in the previous year. Operating profit is projected to increase 44.5% to about EUR750m.
The full interim report for the first nine months will be published on 12 January.
