Unilever has completed the acquisition of Finnish firm Ingman Ice Cream.

As part of the deal, Ingman Ice Cream will continue its operations as before under the leadership of managing director Peter Ingman.

Unilever said the acquisition will strengthen it’s competitive position in ice cream and complement its exisiting portfolio of Magnum, Cornetto and Carte D’Or.

“Together we will further strengthen our positions in ice cream as well as serve our consumers and customers with an even more complete offering,” said Henri de Sauvage, chairman of Unilever Nordic.

Ingman Ice Cream employs around 700 staff and generated sales of EUR70m (US$91.2m) in 2010. The company, which has facilities in Finland, Sweden, Lithuania and Belarus, has brands including Kingis, Jättis and Ingman.
