Produce giant Dole Food Co. has bought an equity stake in Healthy Foods, the producer of the yonanas device that makes frozen treats.
The two companies aim to expand the yonanas product line, which turns frozen bananas and other frozen fruit into a dessert that “looks and tastes like a soft-serve ice cream”, Dole said on Friday (11 November).
The pair added there is opportunity to grow the products, which will be co-branded Dole-yonanas, in both the consumer and foodservice sectors.
David Murdock, Dole’s chairman, said the yonanas technology would help drive the company’s fresh and frozen fruit businesses.
“We’re excited to align with a Fortune 500 company that shares our vision of promoting nutrition. Dole’s powerful brand and global reach will undoubtedly accelerate our market penetration around the world,” Healthy Foods CEO Winston Breeden added.
