Dole Food Co has today (11 October) announced that its operations in Northern Europe will be split in two.

The produce giant said the activities will be split by product line with the creation of two divisions: a Tropical Fruit Division concentrating on bananas and pineapples and a Diversified Fruit Division concentrating on deciduous, citrus, berries and exotic fruits.

“This change reflects the expected growth in our activities as well as the ongoing need for further focus on each product line”, said Dole Europe president Johan Linden.

“Our new organisation will bring our best knowledge and service closer to our customers.”

The Tropical Division will be headed by Oliver Engelken, who was previously business director for North Europe. The other fruit division will be led by Leon van Biljon, who has most recently been working as business manager for Dole South Africa.

Dole Europe imports fresh fruit and vegetables from both Dole Food Co’s own farms and independent growers situated all over the world.
