HJ Heinz has launched a range of ready meals in the US under the Weight Watchers Smart Ones brand.

The Satisfying Selections meals launched yesterday (6 October) are available in five flavours including Sesame Chicken, Chicken & Broccoli and Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry.

Heinz said the meals offer “30% bigger portions than traditional tray meals”.

However, there is less than 400 calories and 25 grams or more of protein in each meal, which can be steamed in the microwave or cooked on the stove top.

“With the new line of Smart Ones bagged meals, you can enjoy a complete meal in a matter of minutes that’s both smart and satisfying,” said Smart Ones director Mark Fleming.

The suggested retail price for the portioned-controlled meals meals is US$3.69 per 11.8 ounce bag and will be available at most major grocery stores and retailers nationwide.
