Genetically modified seed producer Monsanto is arguing that a recent report that claimed that GM food is a failure does not correspond to production figures.
According to Monsanto, land in North America used to grow GM drops has increased by 15% each year since 1996. The company also claims that 30% of corn, 50% of cotton and 70% of soya beans are produced using GM technology, reported ABC News. Monsanto believes that its figures prove that the report is flawed.
Monsanto is protesting against a report by the UK Soil Association, Britain’s main organic food certifier, which claimed that GM crops have failed to deliver substantial benefits to US farmers.
