Iglo Group has made a series of changes to its range of Birds Eye frozen pies that are on sale in the UK.

The revamp includes the launch of Chicken Balti Pies, changes to its steak and steak & kidney lines and new packaging for the portfolio.

The pies are made with shortcrust pastry and chicken breast pieces and vegetables in a spicy sauce. The products will be available nationwide from 1 September.

Birds Eye brand manager Pete Johnson said today (26 August): “Balti Pies have been famously enjoyed in football stadiums and high street bakeries for years so we’re delighted to now offer this best seller for consumers to enjoy at home as the new season kicks off.”

The Chicken Balti pies have been introduced as part of what Iglo called “a major restage” for the range that aims to “generate higher spend” for the frozen pie category this year.

The company has also introduced a pack of four individual Steak Pies. The full four-pack pie range will now include Birds Eye Chicken Balti, Steak, Chicken and Minced Beef & Onion. Chicken Balti Pies have an RRP of GBP2.89 (US$4.70) and Steak at GBP2.99.
