Nestlé Group (Thailand), the local arm of Swiss food behemoth Nestlé, has hit back at accusations from international environmental group Greenpeace that it operates double standards over the safety of its products in Thailand compared to Europe.

Greenpeace had complained that the firm should not sell products with ingredients derived from genetically modified (GM) crops in Thailand, because it is unable to do so in Europe due to strict GM laws.


Nestlé has responded however by stating that all of its GM ingredients are safe according to scientific research, and that Greenpeace has failed to provide any evidence that they are unsafe to eat.
