Most recently, Kelley was chairman, president, and chief executive of retail food chain Marsh Supermarkets. He succeeds Mark McGowan, who has been promoted to executive VP of Ahold USA’s supply chain – a role that has been open since November last year.

McGowan will focus on leading a supply chain organisation that supports all of Ahold USA and its four divisions.

“Joe and Mark will add more retail expertise to our leadership team, and they will help to drive Ahold USA’s overall strategy and preserve the divisions’ local brands,” said Carl Schlicker, COO of Ahold USA.
