Dutch dairy group Campina has opened a product development centre in Wageningen, central Netherlands that will employ 30 researchers from the group’s various units.

The researchers at the new centre, called Campina Innovation, are to work on developing dairy products in order to suit changing consumer requirements worldwide.

Campina’s research and development division was granted patents for numerous products in the food and pharmaceutical sectors last year, including packaging, cheese, desserts and food ingredients.

In 2002, Campina Netherlands generated €817m (US$933.8m) in sales, Campina Germany generated €948m in sales and Campina International generated €508m in sales, reported the Dutch News Digest.
