Omani dairy firm Oman National Dairy Products Company (ONDP) has been allowed by the country’s government to pay just 75% of the normal import duty on 56 products it imports for its own production.

Oman’s economy minister, Ahmad bin Abdul-Nabi Mekki, said that the reduced duty decision will continue for five years.

Among the products included in the ingredients list are milk powder, condensed milk, cocoa, natural juices and jams.

According to the Oman Daily, ONDP recently posted a pre-tax profit of 124,000 Omani rials (US$322,000) for the first nine months of 2001, up from a net loss of 33,000 rials year on year.
