French ingredients firm Naturex has launched a new meat snack concept for the US market in a bid to tap into the growing popularity of the category in the country.

All Natural Teriyaki Beef Jerky is flavoured with a teriyaki seasoning, powdered Cayenne pepper and ginger spice extracts. Pineapple juice and apple cider vinegar powders are also included from Naturex’s NAT F&V ingredients range.

Naturex said it is hoping to capitalise on the growth of the meat snack catogory in the US, which according to figures from Mintel, saw 98 launches in North America in 2012, up from 89 in 2011 and 66 in 2010.

“American consumers love meat snacks, particularly beef jerky and they are increasingly on the look-out for foods that are naturally preserved,” said Naturex business manager Baptiste Demur. “Our new All Natural Teriyaki Beef Jerky ticks all these boxes, creating a fantastic snack concept that will help meat and poultry manufacturers create delicious products with a difference that appeal to a wide range of consumers.”
