UK upmarket retailer Waitrose is to expand its Little Waitrose chain with the opening of six stores in central London this year.
The openings, announced today (6 February), mark the first anniversary of the opening of the first of Waitrose’s smaller convenience stores. Four of the shops will be located in Fulham Palace Road, Muswell Hill, Parsons Green and Vauxhall. The Fulham Palace Road store will open first on 20 March.

A further two will open by the end of the year, the retailer said, creating a total of around 350 jobs.
Of Waitrose’s 28 convenience shops across the UK, 23 are now branded as Little Waitrose outlets. The retailer said it has plans to re-brand the other five “in the future”.
“We have quickly established ourselves within the convenience sector and annual sales are strong,” said Waitrose director of store development Diana Hunter. “Today’s announcement underlines the role little Waitrose will play in driving our growth.”
