Bill Breetz, president of Kroger’s southwest division said the agreement was “good” for the retailer’s associates. He said: “It provides a solid compensation package of wages and benefits, including affordable health care and pension for retirement.

“This agreement is the outcome of thoughtful, respectful and productive work by both the company and union representatives.”

In April, Kroger struck a new labour deal with its workers in Toledo. The agreement covered more than 3,000 workers at the retailer’s 26 stores in the Toledo area who were also represented by the UFCW union.
